>> God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times you may abound in every good work – 2nd Corinthians 9:8 <<
Remember that verse I posted in “a new year of goodness?” I love when this happens! It was about “abundance” – and today just happens to be about “abounding” … and the definition of abound is “to be abundant!” I love love love when God repeats himself… as if He’s attempting to communicate something to me, and giving me multiple opportunities to hear Him & believe Him.
Anyway, today another episode occurred of “Beth Moore’s-beautiful-words-of-revealing-truth-leads-to-an-outpouring-of-Ashlee’s-tears.” Literally – I’m at the lake – ((I love the long mornings of just resting in His Word that the lake allows me)) – and discretely made my way to the bathroom to make sure the black strains were made invisible before the fam caught me in what my husband calls “a little cry fest” ;-)
Over the course of the past year (2015), I realize that I stopped asking… mainly because I felt like I was asking him over & over for the same things that would help me to do better & be better. Instead, I shifted my prayer life to praise alone – which did lend to a heart of growing gratitude and therefore resulting joy, as I took time to stop, recognize, appreciate, and thank God for the blessings of “goodness” (another reference to my previous post) He pours over each of my days.
But in only* praising Him for His goodness, I prevented myself from receiving. Receiving things that would have led to even more* goodness… the things that lead to ABUNDANCE! The things that cause* us to ABOUND. The things that we can’t do, find, or be on our own with more & more & more effort. The things that God is. The things that only* our all-powerful & all sufficient God can give.
This year, I’m going to keep praising. But – I’m going to also ask… without reservation! Because I’m the daughter of the king – a Father who has everything to give, and simply longs for us to meet with Him long enough to ask*
As Beth said so beautifully, “Let’s quit acting like we’re bothering God… Prayer is accepting a royal summons to the throne room of the king for breakfast with your dad. He says, ‘Come here, Child. I’ve got something to give you today.’ ”
So today, I pray after Paul’s example – and urge you to so with me: for deliverance* (from those in my life who misunderstand me, judge me, and don’t believe), for acceptance* (of my work & service & efforts), & for joy* and refreshment* (as I return to school, in the presence of my students – His children, whom He’s entrusted to me) (Romans 15:30-32); for others to fill His courts with praise* (on my behalf for the blessings He’s poured over me) (2 Corinthians 1:8-11); for boldness* (to proclaim His goodness with courage, energy, & perseverance… and through the beauty with which you’ve uniquely designed me) (Ephesians 6:18-19); and for my body to honor* Him (in life & im death, in the wonders of the mountains & in the darkness of the valleys) (Philippians 1:19-20).
Today I ask, Father, that You use me for Your glory. Give* me everything I need to do – and ABOUND – in every good work You have planned for me.

* Today’s Encouragement >>Don’t miss out on the blessings & strength & power & wisdom & provision & courage (etc, etc, etc) that can only come from Him. He knows you – your hopes, dreams, fears, strengths, weaknesses, & passions – better than anyone. He loves you, more than anyone. He wants to give you ANYTHING you need, and EVERYTHING you want. Make this year a year of “abounding in every good work” by approaching every good work with the supplies, materials, and insight that only* come from Him.
